Signing into Chrome or Edge with a personal account on a work computer can copy business information into that personal account.
Depending on the sync settings, that includes bookmarks, browsing history, open tabs and saved passwords, all of which then live in an account the business has no control over and can't revoke when someone leaves.
Use a work profile
Both browsers support separate profiles. The work profile signs into the company-controlled Microsoft 365 or Google account; personal browsing, if it happens on the device at all, stays in its own profile. Business passwords and history stay under the business's control.
Check what's already there
Look at company computers for personal profiles, especially where staff use the same laptop for work and home. With Microsoft Intune, personal sign-in to the browser can be blocked altogether.
